About GoodFoodNearYou
GoodFoodNearYou is a location based search to enable users to make healthy and informed eating choices when dining out at restaurants. Users can search on any web browser, BlackBerry, iPhone and iPod touch to find the healthiest restaurant food options closest to their location. Users can easily navigate restaurant menus to find the nutritional information for food options and sort food by lowest fat, calories and carbohydrates or closest distance. Type of restaurant menu nutrition information provided
Values for fat, calories and carbohydrates are provided for each food item on the restaurant menu. The information is gathered from publicly available sources. There is no guarantee for the complete accuracy of any information provided by GoodFoodNearYou.
How many restaurants are listed?
The nutritional information for approximately 200,000 U.S. restaurant locations are available to search in GoodFoodNearYou. To suggest a restaurant or location, send an email to GoodFoodNearYou
How to register online
Registering online is a simple and free process that allows you to save search results (i.e. your favorite food, restaurants and locations). Registering requires you to enter your email address and zip code.
How to conduct a search for good food near you
Web Search > Any web browser
- 1. Open the website on web browser
- 2. Choose to conduct a manual entry search or to search a popular location: universities, landmarks, airports.
- 3. Advanced option: Select advanced search to define exact numerical values for fat, calories, carbs and distance
- 4. View the search results
- 5. Sort the search results by closest distance, lowest fat, calories or carbs
- 6. Select a search result to bring up the restaurant menu
- 7. Select a menu item to bring up detailed nutritional information
- 8. Map the restaurant location of your food
- 9. Add the food item, restaurant and location to favorites (if you are signed in)
Mobile Search > iPhone
- 1. Open the GoodFoodNearYou application on mobile device
- 2. Choose to conduct a manual entry search or an auto-detect search
- 3. View the search results
- 4. Sort the search results by closest distance or lowest fat
- 5. Select a search result to bring up the restaurant menu
- 6. Sort menu items by closest distance, lowest fat, calories or carbs
- 7. Select a menu item to bring up detailed nutritional information
- 8. Map the restaurant location of your food

BlackBerry buttons and what they do
- Trackball: Roll to move around a screen. Click (press) to select an item.
- Menu key (located to the left of the track ball): Open the application list on the Home screen. Open the menu in an application.
- Escape key (located to the right of the track ball): Move back a screen. Close a menu.
Search results
Search results can be sorted by closest distance and lowest fat, lowest calories or lowest carbs.

The GoodFoodNearYou application is compatible with the Apple iPhone and the Apple iPod touch and RIM BlackBerry mobile devices.

Download and install on your mobile device
The GoodFoodNearYou mobile application is available to download for free. The BlackBerry version of the mobile application is available to install directly onto the BlackBerry for free via a link in a SMS text message (standard text messaging fees apply) sent from goodfoodnearyou.com or from third party hosting sites. The iPhone version of the application is available to download and install via the Apple App Store.
Cost to use the application on mobile device
The application is free to use. However, if you use the GoodFoodNearYou application on your mobile device you could incur additional data charges. This is dependent on your mobile provider's service plan. Please check with your wireless carrier for more information.
GPS issues
GPS enabled devices typically will not work indoors, underwater or underground. Buildings, terrain, electronic interference, or sometimes even dense foliage can block signal reception, causing position errors or possibly no position reading at all. Try to find a new location and start your search again, or conduct a manual entry search.
